LR3 3.6 upgrade issues DNGconverter 7.1 issues

I've downloaded and installed the 3.6 upgrade at least a dozen times ant Adobe still says I need the upgrade.

I've down loaded and installed the DNG Converter7.1 and my Nikon D7000 .nef files still wont open. I tried to change the .nef file extension to .raw file extensions. NADA!

I'm really getting sick of LR3, and I sure's heck am not willing to buy LR4 when Gimp is free!

 

They load instantly in Gimp.

 

What am I doing wrong?

    Did you use the DNG converter to convert your NEF's to DNG's?

     

    Then did you try to import the DNGs into Lightroom?

     

    If so, what happened, exactly? Please post the exact error message you get.

    What OS, Mac or Win? Your camera was supported since LR 3.3 so you do not need the DNG converter. Are you sure you are using your latest install and not an older version.

    I have a mac with snow leopard (os 10.6.8).

    I've installed the LR3 3.6 upgrade "successfully" at least 6 times.

    I dumped the old LR icon out of the dock and replaced it with a new one after running an upgrade attempt.

     

    STILL, when I launch LR3 it says version 3.0, and LR3 STILL tells me that the 3.6 upgrade is available! ARRRRGH!

     

    If I've "successfully" installed the 3.6 upgrade what do I need to do to launch it (vice the 3.0 version that I originally purchased)?

    Listen.  Both  of your versions of LR are still on your Mac. Find the 3.0 version and trash it. Then find the 3.6 version and put it in the Dock.
