Our daughters laptop with Windows 7 will read our new-in-the-box PSE 10 (I did not install it there).  While our desktop with Windows XP will not.  We want to install it on the desktop but can't.  The the windows disc, #1, shows up blank.  All of the system requirements stated on the box have been met.  When i attempt to load the disc, my drive stops responding.  How can I fix this?  Would it work to download the trial version of PSE10 and then use the codes from the box to activate to a full version?

I downloaded the trial version and used it for 30 days.  Then when I bought a boxed version from Amazon, I just entered the serial number and activated it.  It worked but my version was English.  If your version is other than English then I don't know; otherwise it should work.

The trial version is on Adobe website:  However, I am not sure if you can get both 32bit and 64 bit versions (less important though);  That is something you will need to find out but 32 bit versions works fine on XP system.

Did you know that you can install PSE on two systems; Laptop and Desktop?  It is allowed.

It could be that your PSE media is DVD while the drive on your system is CD-Drive!! Is it possible?  Old machines came with CD-Drive only AFAIK).  I had to buy an external DVD drive for my backups and other things.  Perhaps you could try getting an external USB hosted DVD drive to run your PSE media!!!!.  another option here.

Also, you could use the workaround and that is to copy the entire media (whether DVD or CD) on to a pen-drive using your daughter's laptop and use it to install it on your desktop.  You should have one spare USB port to plug in the pen-drive on your desktop..
