Can't change black to yellow in .jpeg

Downloaded .jpeg image of simple Olympic Rings. Using PS in CS6 I can change every ring to a different color except the black ring. It turns gray no matter how I use the adjuments/replace color function. Is this a PS thing ? Ideas highly appreciated.

    I see what you mean about Replace Color not helping with changing black. There are numerous selection tools and commands which will select the black ring's pixels. Then you can fill these pixels with another colour. Without seeing the image which could be anything from a few spot colours to a photograph of shiny surfaces, its hard to suggest a particular solution.

    Try the Selective Color adjustment. Choose the color black from the color dropdown menu and then dial in the color you want with the sliders.
