How can I rotate a PDF document when iewing in adobe reader?

    This isn't possible unfortunately. You need to use a desktop program such as Acrobat to do this.

    If you're on an iPad or iPhone, when you rotate your device, the PDF should rotate. It's possible to set a preference to lock the device to keep the rotation from happening, so check that setting.

    I read the request differently. I thought Nick was asking about the viewing of a PDF document. But he wasn't clear.

    Hi Steve. Perhaps I didn't ask the question correctly. No matter which way I rotate my iPad, the PDF document remains upside down. I received the document as an attachment by email and it was upside down when I viewed it in adobe reader. On my iPad or iPhone I can only view it upside down. Is there a way I can rotate the document as I do on my desktop PC ? 

    I appreciate your or anyone's response to my question.

    I have a new iPad (iPad 3). If you look just above the volume toggle on the side of the iPad, there is a "lock orientation" control. When turned on, you cannot rotate your PDF (or any other file).

    Thanks Steve. I sorted out this problem; however, on my iPad 3 the lock button is not on the side of the iPad just above the volume toggle. That button is the "silent" button. On my iPad the lock orientation control is found by first double clicking the big "home" button and then scrolling to the far left with your finger. Not sure if the South African iPad 3 is slightly different to yours?

    That hardware button can actually be toggled to work either as a mute button, or a lock orientation button. This can be edited at the settings screen.
