Any kind soul suggest a fix for this? Or is it not possible to do ?
I have a PDF - 7MB, is was supplied by a third party (so I cannot get another copy or the content it was created from), I'd like to add it to a site, and 7MB is just too much.
It's 19 pages, can anyone tell me if it is possible to reduce the filesize to something more reasonable?
I've tried optimize and it went from 7.92MB to 7.90MB wow!
Thanks in Adv. McP
A lot depends on how it is made. Here are some options: (be sure to work on a copy)
1. Save As, not Save
2. Save As>PDF Optimize (you can optimize image sample and such. There is also an audit function (here I think for AAX) that gives you an idea where the bloat is)
3. Save As>Reduce File Size
4. Print to a new PDF with appropriate job settings (Not recommended normally and will delete links and such)
Thanks to both of you.
I've done some checking and it's a catalogue, mainly images which take up 90% (according to the audit function)
I tried several options, and the best I can manage (so far) is from 7092kb to 6153kb. Not really enough, I've managed to get pdfs down more than this before but in this case I don't have the original content.
Will keep trying see what works the best.
Print to PDF (nearly) worked, it went to 2MB, but the orientation of the pages went - the trouble is the document has the 1st page as portrait, the pages 2 - 18 are landscape, then p 19 is portrait again. Makes things a bit difficult.
