Buttons as text

I am using buttons as plain text with "none" in the background that bookmark to other pages within the doc. In the Button & Forms field, I click "Appearance: Rollover", then go to Swatches to change the color of the text, but it only allows me to change colors in the text box background, not the text itself. Is this correct, that the text color cannot change upon rollover?

    You can select the text frame withthe text tool and maintain different colors for different states.

    It seems you are doing it the correct way by selecting the state in the panel and changing the text color. Can you elaborate?
