Lightroom 3.6

Windows XP 32-bit SP3

Dell Dimension 4600

Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz

3.0 Ghz RAM (4 G installed - XP only uses 3)

2 350 GB Western Digital Hard Drive

C drive for system and programs

D drive for data

External 500 GB G-Tech drive for Lightroom catalog and photos(USB 2.0)

64 MB Nvidia Quadra NVS with AGP8x. (I usually run 2 monitors. I changed display settings to one display with no difference in results.)

I selected 19 starred photos in the library module. (Jpeg's approx 2.5 MB each). When I try to preview in the slide show module or go to Window-->Impromptu Slide Show, the screen immediately goes to black and the computer restarts. No error messages.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Have you updated your graphics card driver direct from nvidia?  Graphics card issues are usually the cause of slideshow playback issues, although for the computer to actually restart itself sounds like there may be a hardware issue.  Is your power supply beefy enough?  Could something be overheating perhaps?
