Can't (re)install Acrobat X

I realize that part of this is likely my own fault: I had Acrobat X as part of Creative Suite 5.5, so when I got CS6, I didn't reinstall it with everything else. But then I ran into problems with updates, so I tried to uninstall it and install with CS6. It hangs up over and over again with a message similar to this:

WARNING: DW066: OS requirements not met for {AC76BA86-1033-F400-7760-000000000005} Acrobat Professional 10.0.0.0

ERROR: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\4233cb.rbf.   Verify that you have access to that directory.

ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Fatal error during installation.

MSI Error message: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\4233cb.rbf.   Verify that you have access to that directory.

ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:

ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed

I've given myself full permissions for C:\Config.Msi and then restarted... to no avail.

Any suggestions??

I'm having the same problem with Acrobat X. Updated from CS5 to A-Cloud CS6 but getting all kinds of permission errors. Have gone and reset permissions, but then error will be on a different file within the directory (despite having applied all correct permissions to every file in Acrobat folder, *sigh*). It all started with the update to 10.2. Now Acrobat has somehow uninstalled completely during one of the many attempts to update.  Anyone have a fix for this?

    Hi,

Please try the steps mentioned in the following document :

    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1310-error-writing-file .html

This fixes the issues in most of the cases.

    Regards,

    Ravi.

Alas, my problem is deeper than that! Have tried resetting permissions and renaming the config.msi folder, uninstalling, but still no joy. What is weird is that it will go through most of the install, but will 1310 on different files each time. Would like to try running install as admin, but it seems the install files are locked in some adobe install space somewhere.
