Angry customers can't unsubscribe

I've recently been receiving angry emails from customers complaining that they've tried repeatedly to unsubscribe from the mailing list but are still receiving emails. Why is this happening? I read through the documentation and BC notes that unsubscribe requests only unsubscribe someone from THAT campaign which is ridiculous because that means they will still get the next one. Why doesn't the default unsubscribe that is added to the bottom of our emails give the option to unsubscribe from ALL communications?

    The documentation says the list.

    Have you done any testing?

    Have you made a dummy list, form on a test page, signed up, see yourself on the list? Sent a test campaign? Unsubsribed? You still on the list etc.

    Not had an issue with this, when people unsubscribe they are removed. A thought would be that you got a contact form that has the subscribe to newsletter option pre-ticked etc so every time they interact they are re-signed up.

    I think the answer to this is the way you import the emails. If you create an email list the user is not opted in to any lists so when they hit unsubscribe the template called is the subscribe one and not the unsubscribe one.

    If you import your email lists as customers in the CRM menu they are auto opted in.

    The steps are as follows;

    1. create email list and give it a name.
    2. go to the CRM and import subscribers ensuring you have ticked the optin for the newly created list.
