Intel makes poor display drivers, generally speaking, though they're getting better.
See if maybe they've released a display driver update for your hardware and operating system (possibly through Dell.com).
Are you getting a GPU driver failure message? You may want to check if the Intel site for updated drivers: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu
Is this for an XPS Notebook? You might want to ping Dell support and ask if they are updating the driver. Intel shows a newer non-OEM version.
What does the system log report in the upper section (Help> System Info...)?
Can you actually change it in that system? I know it's been possible in some laptops, but I didn't think the current Inspirons had that ability.
