photoshop elements cannot start or continue because of missing files, please reinstall.
I have done this but I still get the same message.
A couple of months ago I had the same, but uninstalling and reinstalling didn't solve it. As it had been a few weeks I had used PSE I went to a Systemrestorepoint in the past at a moment of which I figured PSE worked and that solved the problem.
A few days ago I had used PSE and no software installed or removed up till today. And there was some software which I don't use and had removed previous time: Asus stuff which was already pre-installed on my laptop when I bought it, like Governor of Poker and Hotel Dash Suite Success (software by Oberon). After having removed this stuff PSE11 started nagging about missing files, so I had to do a systemrestore again. It's strange that it messes up the PSE-installation. I'll have to contact Oberon (or Asus) as well, as I don't want this software and it's consuming resources on my laptop. Unfortunately the simple deinstall of this stuff and then a reinstall of PSE11 doesn't solve the problem. After that I am still left by missing files. What uses PSE what's being used by the Oberon-stuff and vice-versa?
BTW: I'm using Windows 7 64bit premium.
Pluim003 in general a system restore can increase the difficulties you are facing with your installed software. The system restore is attempting to replace files and permissions with a previously stored version. This process is not always successful. I personally only will utilize a system restore prior to formatting and reinstalling my Windows installation.
As for a general question regarding what shared resources maybe used there should be none beyond general Windows services and resources. If you are receiving a particular error message when you try to launch Photoshop Elements then I would recommend posting the error message and the details of your system to the Photoshop Elements forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements.
If you are facing difficulties when installing Photoshop Elements then please feel free to start a new discussion thread in the Downloading, Installing, and Setting up forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup. Please make sure to include the specifics of your exact circumstances including your operating system and any error messages which you receive.
Jeff, thanx for your reply, but I encountered the same errormessage (but in Dutch as I have the Dutch version installed) as the OP on Sept 11th, 2012. So afterwards I thought by solving it by uninstalling and reinstalling PSE, but afterwards I received the same errormessage, so the solution was a systemrestore.
