Arrows to increase font size in Character Palette not working

I keep having a problem with the Character palette in InDesign CS6. All of a sudden I will not be able to click the arrows to increase the font pt size, or leading size. It just happens out of nowhere, I've tried closing down the application but nothing seems to fix it. Has anyone else experienced this and had success with fixing it?

    What is the OS? Do you have any other problems with tools or the mouse?

     

    Have you tried trashing the prefs? See Replace Your Preferences

    Thanks Peter for your thoughts here. Not sure why the OS would have anything to do with it but it's Snow Leopard or 10.6.

     

    The only problem is this one. I will give replacing the preferences a go. It's a fairly new version of the software, I purchased about a month ago. Never seen anything like it though.

    There are some issues on Windows vist and Windows 7 that are similar to this and are triggered by changing the font size in the Windows interface.
