Corner adjustment for dashed stroke

Hello,

InDesign CS4 has a "Corner adjustment for dashed stroke" feature which allows corners of a dashed stroke to have the dash part instead of a gap or a small part of a dash. Interestingly, I cannot find this feature in Illustrator CS4. I believe it is included in Illustrator CS5.

Is this feature indeed absent from Illustrator CS4? If so, is there a workaround?

Yeah sadly that is when the option "Aligned dashes to corners and path ends, adjusting lengths to fit" was introduced in the stroke panel of Illustrator. The two options Monika suggested will sort you out in CS4 however.

Thanks Monika and W_J_T. I just tried pattern brushes, but I have trouble making corner connections that flow well as the size of my rectangle changes (I am applying the brush to a rectangle and have defined the side tile and outer corner tile). Perhaps you could point me to a tutorial on this subject as I might not be creating my pattern brush properly.
