CS6 Premiere freezes on save

Oct 16, 2012 3:24 PM

Working on a 2008 Mac Pro

10.6.8

2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel

18 GB of RAM

Not quite sure how else to explain it. I'll be working on a project and everything is running fine. I go to save and the progress bar will get maybe a quarter of the way along and then it hangs. Very frustrated to lose all that work. I tried shortening the time of auto-save to help out. Now when the auto-save kicks in, same thing, little less than quarter of the progress bar and it hangs. Everything unresponsive. The problem is that sometimes it will save. I am not doing anything different when it is sucessful. Same screen layout, dame filters, same project.

Help?

John

I am on Windows so have NO idea if any of these will help, but reading these saved links may point you in the right direction... especially the first 2 links about permission problems

Okay I have a couple of questions for you.

How many hard drives are you using? (Please describe what each seperate disk is being used for currently)

What type of interface are your hard drives using?

Have you tried saving your projects to a different hard drive?

Although if what I'm understanding is correct it sounds like you're saying that you open up project "A" and it won't allow you to save. But then later on you'll open up "Project A" again and it will allow you to save and it's on the EXACT same hard drive and inside the exact same folder etc. Let me know if I'm understanding correctly.

My final question is have you tried to uninstall then reinstall and see if the problems are still there?

What interface is your second drive using? I'm assuming the OS drive is obviously SATA.

Also have you attempted to save on your main OS drive instead of your secondary to check if the same problem exist.

Have you attempted to save on your OS drive to see if that produces a different result?

    Hi there,

I'm having the same problem and desperately needing help, fast! I've been working on my premier project for a year now, I haven't encountered any problems like this before, until today.

I'm working on a 2009 Mac book pro, running mountain lion. Working off of an external LaCie rugged hard drive and using cs 6. When I try to save or when it auto saves, the first two times is usually fine. And then the third timer tries to save, it will freeze. It'll freeze premier pro, and my whole computer as well! I desperately need a quick resolution to this because the deadline for this project is due in two weeks.

Please any comments and feedback will help.

    Maggie

On a side note, I have looked around and found that some cs5 users have this problem as well, haven't found a solution for it. But they also have a related audio problem where their speakers will not work, they become muted and the speaker icon becomes greyed out.

Please don't double-post.   I deleted the other post that you added under your duplicate account.
