Why aren't my text hyperlinks working?

I've selected text in a static text box and added a link to the text using properties--options---link. I set the target to _blank

However, when I publish or preview the show in a web browser or flash, the link does not work. It is clickable, as if a link (the hand appears), but nothing happens--it doesn't link to anything.

What am I doing wrong? bug?

I'm not really sure what you are trying, but here is the way to do it by code.

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/fla sh/events/TextEvent.html

Basically you put the name of an event handler in the href property. When someone clicks the link, the event is triggered and the code in your handler responds.

Have you tried testing it on a server? What is the link that you are specifying?

Yes! That worked. For some reason it needs to be on a server in order for the links to work. Thanks.
