Bridge asks me to purge the cache but the computer hangs up What Now?

Adobe Bridge CS6 keeps asking me to purge the cache each time bridge is opened and now when i try it sits there and then selecting command-option-delete it tells me Bridge is Not Responding.  What do i do to release the cache

    Hold down Cmd + Option while starting Bridge (keep it pressed).


    You'll be prompted with options for purging cache and for resetting preferences. You can follow on-screen instructions from here.

    Not a Mac guy but think you need to start wtih the utilities like disk repair and fix permissions.
