Adobe Flash Player 11.5 tries to install over and over

OS: Windows 7  (64 Bits)

Browser: IE9 (32 Bits).

Adobe Flash Player Version:  11.5.502.110

 

Since the update to the lastest version of flash player, everytime I restart my PC and browse to any page that use flash plugin, the User Account Control window appears asking: "Allow changes to yout computer? Adobe Flash Player Installer".

 

I tried:

- let the instalation to continue after the uac message.

- Download and Install the standalone version as administrator.

- Use the flash uninstall utility, remove all remaining files and then reinstall.

- Follow all the steps (several times) from this thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/987370

 

Nothing worked, What else can I try?

    Could you provide us with your flashinstall.log file so we can take a look to see if there's something initiating this? 

     

    Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on Windows?

    I’m having the same problem.  When viewing some websites, User Account Control repeatedly wants me to install Flash Player.  This continues to happen even if I allow the installation and have not restarted my computer.  Flash Player Installer does not seem to know, or care, that I already have Flash Player, but maybe that’s normal.  Here are the latest entries from the log:

    @stevmar - Does this only occur with the activex version of Flash Player (Internet Explorer)?  If so, could you try running through the steps outlined in this faq:

     

    How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player?

     

    If that doesn't help, the next thing I'd try is resetting Internet Explorer.

    I’m seeing exactly the same problem on two computers, both running Windows 7 Professional (one 64-bit,other 32-bit) and IE9. On the 64-bit system I uninstalled all my Adobe programs and then re-installed them with fresh downloads, but I still get a regular notification that Adobe Flash wants to be installed (can’t remember the exact message at this time).

     

    That said, Flash seems to work fine, but it’s like the installation didn’t write something to the right file and it thinks the version is out of date.

     

    This behaviour started with the 11.5.502.110 version, as far as I can tell.

    So the permissions solution didn't work.

     

    Perhaps Adobe can come up with a better solution that blaming someone else.  Personally, I don't want to reset all my add-ins and customizations, unless someone from Adobe will come and re-do all my add-ins and customizations.

     

    Clearly this is a problem with this release.  I'm happy to provide you with any additional information you require.

    I tried those steps. the problem only occurs with IE9. Firefox works fine.

     

    Other solution that doesn't involve resetting IE?

    Just wanted to ring-in that i am having the same problem. Have uninstalled and installed A-FP on my W7-64 Home Premium w-IE9, at least  30 or 40 times, hey Adobe this version (11.5) of a key utility in Windows, is not working. Although i'm not holding my breath waiting for Adobe, i would take advice from anyone who thinks thatn they have overcome this problem. I will not reinstall IE9 as that is clearly no the problem, A-FP 11.5 was designed to work in IE9 within W764&32, but it doesn't fit so it should be upn to the designers to make it fit. I wonder if anyone at Adobe is even aware of this problem, maybe they don't think they have a problem. After repeated visits to this website i can find no solution, way to send an email to anyone about any problem, and if you happen to attract the attention of live tech. support ---well they are in Bangla-lazi-deli somewhere and have "no working knowledge of Flash Player", something i found almost humerous, because my Flash player doesn't work either. The only other option seems to be the use of this forum, that doesn't seem to involve any Adobe professionals, and is nothing more than a bunch of customers that similar (or different) problems (that's a key word here) and they expect us to come up with solutions to problems that originate from Adobe's doing, what kind of crock is that ?  HELP ! ! ! S.O.S. ! ! !

    I showed this thread to our installer engineers and they've requested the following info if possible.

    It looks like what’s being repeatedly launched is the cab (or seed) installation process. This occurs under the two following circumstances:

    1. The FP (Flash Player) ActiveX control is not installed.
    2. The page is coded for a higher version of FP than what the client has installed.

     

    If FP is failing to install every time for these folks (allowing for number 1 above), I would expect to see some telltale patterns in install logs, but I see none of these patterns. So that leaves us with number 2, which means some of the web pages they are visiting are improperly coded (the version in the embed tag is set too high). Unfortunately, the one site that is mentioned, http://www.clarin.com/, does not appear to have any embed tags. Also, I just uninstalled my AX Player and went to http://www.clarin.com/ expecting to get the cab installation, but it never happened. So maybe that site has removed the incorrectly coded embed tag. Not sure.

     

    Let’s try to get some more info:

     

    1. Please share some more website url’s which cause the FP install process to begin.
    2. When they are prompted to install FP for IE (but you know you already installed FP for IE), gather the following information:

    - View the contents of the following folders and let us know which files exist:

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash (64-bit systems only)

    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

    - Do the following registry keys exist?

    the issue on Slate.com was due to some specific "bad" Flash ads which should be resolved now.
