Roll/Crawl Control

I have been trying to use the roll option. I have found that the Control box is not consisantly available.

 

I have found that it is not available to use to adjust an existing rolling text item (1).

If I start over and make a new default roll text (2), the control box will be available and I can use it on the existing text (1), but if I delete the new text (2) I can longer find the control to use on (1) withou repeating the new text process (3).

 

Help please!

    Yes, the Roll/Crawl option panel can be re-opened at any time.

     

    How you do it, though, depends on which version of the program you're using.

    Remember that to apply the Roll/Crawl Presets, your Title must be Selected.

    Yes I expected that, but even when the text is Selected the controls are not available except as noted.

    Do you mean that it is normal to have to open a new Text roll to get to the controls?

    Sorry; I am using a trial version of Premeire Elements 11.

    How else are you going to control roll/crawl without using the functions in the Text/Roll option panel?

     

    What exactly are you trying to control or change?

    I guess that My original post was not as clear as I hoped.

     

    To restate; If I have a roll text on a track but now want to adjust any of the controls often the crawl/roll control panel is not available (grayed out). The only way that I have found to make the crawl/roll contol available is to start a new roll text on a track (even tho I did not want a second one). Now the controls can be used for either the original or the new text depending on which is selected. Usually if I delete the second text the control panel will no longer be available unless I again start a new roll text.

     

    Again to note: I am using a trial version of Premiere Elements 11 on Windows XP.

    After you double-click on the title on your timeline, how are you selecting roll/crawl options?

    The "Selecting," that I am talking about is Selecting the Title on the Timeline, not an Object in the Title, like Text, in the Title Editing Panel - the Titler.

     

    I could not find a tutorial on PrE Titler, with the Roll/Crawl Preset, but did find a general Title tutorial for PrE: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adobe-digital-school-collection/adding-title s/

     

    Then, a tutorial for PrPro CS 6 (note: some aspects WILL be different), but Roll/Crawl are covered about 2/3 of the way through: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cs6/creating-and-editing- titles/

     

    Hope that "reading between the lines" on the second one is not too confusing.

    Sorry that I was so thick about this.

     

    What "select" meant to me was clicking on the text on the timeline. I now realize that I needed to double click to open the Crawl/Roll panel. I was using that method to edit the text but thought the panel should be available with the single click.

     

    Thanks for your patience! Also thanks for the tutorial reference I will be using them.

    No problem. Both of those operations are Selecting - one is for the entire Title, where the other is for an Object in the Title - in this case a Text Object. It works the same for other Objects, like Shapes, Images, Lines, etc.
