Switching project from CS 5 to CS6

Nov 19, 2012 5:56 AM

Hi,

I'v heard some good things about CS6 e.g. auto gapping subtitle tracks compared to CS5. So I would like to upgrade but still have problems with building a CS5 Project with CS6.

Mostly it says that some files cant be found etc .... so my quick and dirty solution would be to delete all sort off cached and pre generated temp files and recode/transcode all master new.

So which fiels/directories may be deleted/cleand up?

I do have one video track, three aoudi tracks and one subtitle track.

Or whats the best way to switch to CS6?

Thanks for any hint/suggestion and best regards .Götz

You have to know the path that Encore is using to find the file to link. Some options are easy: timeline assets are in the transcode folder (if they were transcoded by Encore - or Encore using AME) or in their original locations if transcoded before import. But menu renders and the like can be harder to find.

I think the better strategy is to start over (new folder, new Encore project file) and import from transcodes, menus, etc. All navigation must be rebuilt, but you are more likely to get a successful project.

Excellent question; that is a big time issue.

Yes, you can export subtitles to a text file and reimport.
