Using DWCS5.5. Have website design using server-side includes with IIS testing server on my local drive. Site is running "live" on the internet just fine. Previously, there had been no problems viewing this same site in the PIB function in DW.
Made a "slight" change to the page content, and now in PIB (IE and Chrome only -- no problem with FireFox, Opera or Safari), it suddenly started to get external ad links (red text, underlined) to regular text on the page. Not sure of what was happening, I copied my backup of the site back onto my PC, figuring that all would be fine. It wasn't. This is when the problem of ad links appearing when in PIB appeared as stated. Fortunately, I haven't changed the site "live," so no problems on the internet.
Despite some form participants telling me earlier that there was no way this could be related to DW's PIB function, it sure looks like it's related to the PIB function in DW and the use of IIS testing server with it, since these are the only conditions under which I've seen the problem.
Any help appreciated.
The live site is not the problem. The problem is in the site on my local drive when viewing it in the "preview in browser" function of DWCS5.5. The exact same website is live and doesn't have the problem.
The site uses server-side includes and IIS as a local testing server. That's when I get the problems. The problem appears with IE and Chrome. If I open either of these browsers separately, then come back to Dreamweaver and use PIB, the problem isn't there. In all cases, no problem with FireFox, Opera and Safari.
So, to me (and to my IT person here), this clearly looks like a problem with the PIB function of Dreamweaver.
All DW does is open the existing browser that resides on your system. It does not influence the operation of the browser, it does not execute within DW.
If the browser 'malfunctions' after making a 'slight change' to the page content, then I would say that the problem is due to the 'slight change'.
At this stage we are not privy to the original content or to the change. This makes it impossible for us to render any assistance.
You are not understanding my problem. I made a "slight" change and experienced the problem I described. So, I then deleted all of the website files for that site on my local drive and simply copied back in the back-up site files in order to get back to where I was before I tried the slight change that gave me the problems. The backup files are exactly identical to what's running "live" on the internet now and all along, with no problems in any of the browsers. I would have thought that using these identical non-problem files on my local drive using the IIS testing server and the PIB function would have worked as before I had made the change. In IE live on the internet, the website with these identical files run perfectly; it does not run correctly when viewed in the PIB function in DWCS5.5. Therefore, my conclusion is there's something amiss in Dreamweaver -- somewhere. Am I wrong?
I've done F5 and Control+F5, numerous re-boots, copying what I know to be good backup website files onto my local drive in DWCS5.5 and in the inetpub/wwwroot directory for the IIS Windows testing server. Nothing corrected it. Will check the URL you provided below.
