Can I eliminate that annoying size box on Rectangular Marquee tool?

I have CS6 on two Mac computers, a desktop and a laptop. On the desktop, everytime I draw a Rectangular Marquee, a very distracting black box with dimensions comes on at the lower right corner of the selection. This does not happen with CS6 on my laptop. I can't find a control to turn this box off. Where is it?

    In Preferences > Interface, set Show Transformation Values to "Never".

    Thanks. I would never have guessed that this preference controlled that annoying box. I looked all over the options bar, where you expect to be able to turn those things off. I hope that Adobe picks up on this for CS7.

    Pick up on what?

    The feature is optional as it is so what else would you expect them to do?
