Premiere Elements 11 - Slow and keeps crashing?

Nov 23, 2012 7:46 AM

Hi All,

I recently bought a fully loaded Dell PC for video editing, way way over the minimum requirements for Elements. I use After effects CS6 fine, its really fast and responsive but Premiere elements seems to be crashing and really slow? Anyone know how it can be improved?

Many Thanks,

Tom.

How fast is your processor, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean, freshly defragmented space is on your C drvie?

Is this a laptop or a desktop?

What operating system are you using? It is 32 bit or 64 bit?

Does the program crash before you add any media to it or after? If after, what model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?

When you go to the Edit menu and check Project Settings, what settings does it show?

Along with the Replies by Steve and John T., you might want to look over this FAQ Entry, on setting up PrE, one's system and OS, and then troubleshooting hangs and crashes: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/792580?tstart=0

If you get into the troubleshooting, see the "Finding Clues," and let us know what you find in the Event Viewer, in both the System and Applications Tabs.

    Good luck,

    Hunt
