mmm, i think i did last time but going to have another go with a couple of minutes test (so it does not take forever)
so mpeg2-dvd
preset match source high quality
video
quality 5
tv standard pal
frame rate auto based on source
field order auto based on source
pixel aspect ratio auto based on source
min bit 2.8
target bit 6.8
max bit 7.97
max render quality ticked
then in encore i didn't transcode just checked and built it and the dvd is not v.good quality
i did notice the size option was 4.7 so i am going to try 8.54 gb dual layer to see if thats any better
then in encore i didn't transcode just checked and built it and the dvd is not v.good quality
The question will be what is good enough quality. You are downrezzing HD to SD. But you refer to pixellated. It should not be that bad. Is your "not v.good quality" pixellated?
What is your total program length? Is your 6.8 target based on that?
Export 10 minutes from PR MPEG2-DVD, change only the bitrate to CBR 8. Just play the m2v on your computer. (What player are you using?) How does it look?
ah thanks for the reply
i am only testing a 2minute piece of the video as it was taking ages to try with the full length version (21mins)
i have now got un pixelated dvd but it still does not look sharp, i am now giving your cbr8 setting a go.
i was playing it on me mac, then tried on my projector (which is where it needs to be shown from)

Nothing magic about the 8cbr. Actually one of your other test files is probably fine. I just want to know if you play the file, not a dvd burned from it, it looks at good as you'd like.
