For some reason with flash cs6 I can't import specific sound files. There is nothing different from them and other files that do work. It says "couldn't import (file)" and "one or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them" Please help, my deadline is in a few days!

What is the file format of these problematic sounds? It may be that these sound files are set to an unusual sampling or data rate. If the files are in mp3 format, try changing the bit rate mode to constant, if it is not that already. Also look at the data rate of the file. Make sure that it is a "normal" rate like 44100, 32000, or 22050 Hz.

I just want to confirm what Rob Dillon wrote.

I have a Windows 8, 64bit machine and had issues importing sound.

After saving the MP3 file in the bit rate that he suggested, my files imported as expected.

    Thanks.

I can confirm that a non-standard bitrate also causes this problem.  Changing from 763kbps to 128kbps (using Adobe Media Encoder) fix this issue for me.
