Can I Preview a Section of My Flash Movie

Nov 27, 2012 10:50 AM

Hi, is there any way I can preview a part of my Flash animation without having to do a "Publish Preview" of the whole movie. I understand you can “scrub” the timeline but I am using some imported .swf movies which aren’t visible when scrubbing the timeline. Currently I select “Publish Preview” and then have to watch the whole animation before I can see the changes I made to the end of the movie. I was just wondering if there is a way to be able to preview only a part of the movie or a way to “scroll” through a rendered .swf movie like a QT movie?

You can always jump to the frame the animation begins with a frame script on the first frame:

    gotoAndPlay(900); // jump to frame 900

Things can go wrong with this, such as audio set to "Event" instead of "Stream" or if any previous code needed to be executed prior to getting to the position you want to view. If it's all just standard timeline stuff the script will jump you wherever you want.

    1.  how many scenes do you have?

    2. what exactly do you want to preview?
