The audio on an exported mpeg2-dvd file begins to stutter after a couple of minutes of play. How can I fix this?

I was really tight for time but Encore sorted it out. I used the dynamic link to encore, set up the build, sorted the 'check project' and encore done the rest. Its burned succesfully on imation and verbatim discs now. Still no idea what caused it however because I stripped out the audio and replaced it with different wave files and it still got to 8m10s and then went wrong.
Thanks all for your help and advice.
If you set them too high it can choke some DVD players.
No, that's a myth. ALL players brandishing the DVD logo are fully capable of handling the maximum allowable bitrate for the DVD specification.
That myth arose because people were making bad burns, using less than quality blank disks and burning hardware. This created disks with lots of errors on them, which the player will try to correct by rereading those problem sectors. That attempt to reread is what causes the stuttering. It's the errors that cause the problem, not the bitrate.
