Flex and Merging

Hi

About to start developing a rather big program using Flex 4 that would involve merging documents (letters, legal documents, spreadhseets, etc.) from Flex into Word, WordPerfect and Excel.  Is this something that can be done using Flex?

I would appreciate some guidance on this topic.

Thanks,

The only highlevel solution that I cna think of is to use LiveCycel data services to convert these documents to PDF and then merge documents into PDF.

yes, something server-side, for example coldfusion (cf) w/openoffice installed on the server can spit out office compatible docs, cf  itself can handle spreadsheets & PDF creation/merging.

As an alternate solution, you could use Java. There is the Apache POI library, which can be used to edit Office files.

You could then use Flex to call the necessary Java-methods.
