Subtitles look aliased

I'm wondering if anyone can help. I'm adding English subtitles to my HD DVD and the subtitles look terrible. They look aliased and jagged. I've tried all the different settings by changing the colors and opacities. I even tried using different fonts thinking maybe it is a font issue. Still nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatfully.

Thanks

Are you seeing the problems in preview or just in burned disk?

Just like other titles in video, subtitle quality can be a problem. I don't recall the specifics, but I think part of it is that they render at the default setting for the project.

If it wasn't this simple, let us know!

Encore only every previews discs at DVD quality - never at HD quality.  That is probably why they did not look great.  It is also why the preview does not show Blu-ray specific things like pop-up menus.
