I am using PE11 on a Windows 7 OS laptop. When I attempt to import .MOV files taken with a Kodak Easyshare z980 digital camera, I get the following error screen "The importer reported a generic error." According to iTunes, the .MOV files are stereo, 320x420, 753kbps, using H.264 video codec. Please help. I tried updating my codec, but it appears H.264 is an older standard and it is not easy to figure out exactly how to update that codec correctly, and safely. Thanks
1st, what version of Quicktime do you have installed?
2nd, MOV is a wrapper... what is inside that wrapper?
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037

What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
.
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

Here is a screen shot
In case it is hard to read it says under Codec section that it is AVC (Baseline@L1.3) (2 Ref Frames)
Steve,
I am using a Kodak EasyShare z980. And your recommendation to change the file extension from .MOV to .mp4 worked. PE 11 is now allowing me to import the videos with the changed file extension. Thank you very much for the assistance.
P.S. the Adobe online support and call in numbers were useless. You were a life saver.
