I've got a document created in illustrator (40+ artboards) and I'd like to get into inDesign and still be able to edit the text/images etc in inDesign itself. Obviously I can place individual pages, but I need them to be editable in inDesign.
Anyway of doing this?
Hmm AI files are not editable in InDesign directly you would have to edit them in Illustrtor and have them updated i ID?
Have you ever been able to edit art from Illustrator directl in ID? I do not think there is a way to edit placed files in ID. Even if they are cut an pasted from another app.
Copy the stuff one by one from Illustrator into InDesign.
Be careful with text: you can't copy/paste text object, you'll have to select the text.
Might be better to export the text as rtf or txt from Illudtrator and import into InDesign.
Thanks for the reply Wade.
It an unusual sitatution. I have a whole document created in illustrator. I'm handing it over to a client for them to work on in-house and they've requested an inDesign file. Ideally I'd like a way of exporting my ai file into an indd file. Haven't been able to find a way of doing this at the moment.
