i get a panel layout is missing and java runtime environment error you may need to reinstall flash

how does one go about that process?

Oh, it's mac 10.8.2

Moving this discussion to the Flash Pro - General forum. The users in this forum may have additional suggestions beyond uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

You can locate the uninstaller in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.

If this is a cloud problem, I have no idea. If you downloaded an installer for Flash CS6, or you have the physical disk, then the problem may be an incomplete installation. You might solve it by uninstalling and then re-installing Flash.

There is a disclaimer that Flash CS6 is not compatible with 10.8, Snow Lion. I and many others are using Flash CS6 successfully on 10.8. I found that there can be a conflict with some small utility apps, these would cause Flash to slow down a great deal.
