Cannot copy necessary fonts

Dec 7, 2012 6:06 AM

I have an issue where InDesign CS6 will not package a file on a Mac running 10.6.8 and will generate the following error message: "Cannot copy necessary font(s)".  I have tried packing this same exact file onto another Mac running 10.6.8 and no error messages were generated and the InDesign file packaged properly.  Both versions of InDesign CS6 are the exact same (8.0.1).  I can't figure out why one machine will package the file and the other one won't.  I am saving the file with the exact same name and saving to the desktop on each Mac. Please help!

Another user yesterday or the day before found that some of his fonts were locked and that caused this error.

Can't help with that -- I'm on Windows. I'd start by finding one of the fonts that won't package and get info, though, to see if that's really the problem.

Are you using a font manager? I think some of the auto-activation plugins can cause this, too.
