Error decompressing - now AME and Premiere freeze during import

The person who gave me this footage compressed it from an AVI. I'm not very good with codecs and what not, so I hope y'all can point me in the right direction.

Playback is fine, just no import. Other MP4s play and import fine.

Running CS6 and just purchased QuickTime Pro 7 in hopes it would help, but no luck. With the long list of InstalledCodecs (report below), I'm hesitant to disable any because as I said I'm not sure which are what. I would love to just re-install this entire damn OS and Suite and hope for the best - but I really just want to work with this clip already.

Your problem MAY be the variable bit rate mode... there have been other messages about problems with trying to edit anything other than a constant bit rate file

    Weird.

Can you get the original AVI file instead?

I use this for problem file conversion.  (Get 5, not the 6 beta.)
