Cut Out

Dec 7, 2012 7:25 PM

How can I make this cut out more realistic?

Is there a fairly easy way to soften the edges so it fades into the background more?

I spent hours on You Tube for the solution but couldn't find anything appropriate.

I take you tried it without the drop shadow around the boy, and that didn't make it better?

I suspect what's got your artistic eye unsettled is that the light on the boy doesn't look like it's coming from the lights in the scene.  The brain is pretty good on picking up what looks like it doesn't belong.

You could try using the Burn tool softly around the edges to darken them, and maybe Dodge to lighten a few, but honestly it looks pretty good as is.

I think the layer style you added makes it look very cut out remove it or make it less noticeable.
