SORT OPTIONS.

Dec 8, 2012 8:11 AM

I have "in-work" folders that I prefer sorted by "Date Modified"; and I have "Archive" folders that I prefer sorted by Ascending Title.

Is there a way to apply different Sort options to specific folders in CS6, or do I still have to re-select each time I open a "different" folder?

    Don't think you can choose different folders, but you can create and save different workspaces that have different options.  Set up with keyborad short cut.

    I think this is possible with script… with a quick test this worked for me when opening the given folders piggy and kermit… If you wanted to do this with more than 2 folders then using switch would be better than lots of if statements… This also shows how to change the view mode too…

    #target bridge
    //
    loadedDoc = function( event ) {

        if  ( event.object instanceof Document && event.type == 'loaded' ) {

            if ( app.document.thumbnail.name == 'piggy' ) {

                changeSort( 'date-modified', false );

                app.document.thumbnailViewMode = 'details';

            };

            if ( app.document.thumbnail.name == 'kermit' ) {

                changeSort( 'name', true );

                app.document.thumbnailViewMode = 'list';

            };

        } return { handled:false };

    };
    //
    app.eventHandlers.push( {handler: loadedDoc} );
    //
    function changeSort( type, rev ) {

        var thisSort, thisArray;

        thisSort = Object();

        thisSort.name = type;

        thisSort.reverse = rev;

        thisArray = Array();

        thisArray.push( thisSort );

        app.document.sorts = thisArray;

    };
