After Tech Support Live Chat fixed the corrupted Catalog issue that was bugging the Organiser everything worked fine. I turned on PSE11 today and find that both the Quick and the Guided Editor modes are unworkable as the tools have 'vanished' but are present in Expert mode. Clicking on 'tools' in the Window pulldown makes no difference. Any suggestions please?? I do not know if I can try to reinstall from the disc to see if it can replace any missing / broken files without zapping any work I have previously done.
The problem you are facing is probably because of corrupted swf files in your machine. But before advising for reinstallation, can you please share your Operating system information and also if you can see the following folders and files in your machine:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0\Locale\en_us\Workflow Panels\GuidedEdit.swf
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0\Locale\en_us\Workflow Panels\QuickEdit
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0\Locale\en_us\Workflow Panels\QuickEdit\QuickEditAir.swf
/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/11.0/Locale/en_us/Workflow Panels/GuidedEdit.swf
/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/11.0/Locale/en_us/Workflow Panels/QuickEdit
/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/11.0/Locale/en_us/Workflow Panels/QuickEdit/QuickEditAir.swf
Hi Domnic, I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3. I have gone into C:\ Programme Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11\Locale\en-us and there is no workflow panels or swf file or quickedit file or quickeditair.swf files. I could not locate a C:\programData file/folder/route. I am guessing therefore that you are correct in your advice re 'swf files'. Any suggestions please?
Sorted !! In the process of rectifying Organiser fault, renaming 11.0 as 11.0old and creating a new 11.0 folder (via the All User\Application data\ Adobe\....etc route) the file "Workplace Panels was not copied over to the new 11.0 Folder (locale\en-us \...) I have now copied across the relevant files from the defunct 11.0 old folder and all is working. Many thanks Domnic for guiding me to the likely cause, Regards, Gerry
Morning Domnic - I cannot thank you enough for your help as I would never have found the missing files without it. I had spent hours looking at different options without success until you pointed the way. I like PSE11 but from my own experiences and from reading the different forums I have read, the constant glitches it throws up for so many people does not reflect well on Adobe. Best wishes, Gerry
I have now discovered in Expert Editor mode that Filters, Styles, and Effects tabs do not work under the FX Pane and also in the same mode, under 'Graphics' the shapes and text buttons do not work. I have looked into;
C:\Programmes\Adobe\Photoshop 11\Plug-ins\Panels and find that the 'Panels' folder is empty - possibly missing something here? Otherwise the Editor is working fine and Organiser is similarly OK. Any suggestions please?
Hi, its a long time ago but I had the same problem with Windows 7. Search for this folder "c:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\" and
check your rights. Make sure that your current user has all rights for the contained files.
