Adobe Community: reset default preferences w/ CS5 on iMac?

Click on the Photoshop icon to launch it, and then quickly press down and hold the cmd-opt-shift keys all at once until the reset dialog box appears. A dialog will appear "delete the Adobe Photoshop Preferences File?" Press Yes if that's what you want and then Photoshop will continue to open. It may take a few tries but it should work.

Yes, I agree, "it should", but it doesn't. I have tried more than "a few times", but it doesn't. Therefore, my question in my post was, IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO RESET?

You can manually delete the prefs file. It should be in Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings.

The file in that folder is called:Adobe Photoshop 5 Prefs.psp".

First, thank you so much for your replies and your patience. I found the prefs file but now the .psp won't open under the photoshop app. What app should I use to open the .psp file? I understand that psp are paintshop pro files.

I got it! The flash player wasn't updated, because it won't update on Chrome, which is my fave browser. So, I had use a different browser, and the prompter popped up. Thanks so much for your time.
