illustrator cs5 keeps closing on start up without error msg

Please help.  i am running Master Collection CS5 on Win7 and my illustrator keeps closing as soon as launching it without any error msg.  it was working fine until this morning.  don't know what the problem is.  all other programs seem to be fine.

    Immediately after starting AICS5, hold down shift, alt, ctrl to reset your preferences. If that dont work, reboot you computer.
