So with one more page to complete (extras page) i was hoping to get some feedback from you experts out there like, how to clean up code and general opinion. I know its a very simple site however it is my first build. 5 weeks ago i opened dreamweaver with Zero HTML or CSS knowledge and closed it not having a clue what to do next so tuned in to Lynda.com and here i am. Be be honest please (but not too harsh)
From a web perspective for a first site I'm impressed. It's better than a lot of first shots I come across. From a marketing perspective I'm not sure this website will generate conversions for you. The first 2 links on the main nav are for contact and about which are not what you are selling. And the link color within the text is the default and it's very hard to recognize against the semi-transparent background. And on the font topic, the Times New Roman really isn't pretty against that background. I'm not sure how familiar you are with webfonts but I think the site would like better with something like Calluna ( http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/calluna-sans ), Oxygen ( http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/oxygen ) or QuattroCentro ( http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/quattrocento-sans ). So good starting point but still a little ways to go.
English characters read from top to bottom, left to right. If you want people to notice certain links first, put them in the reading order. It looks like you are selling boats so I would put that link first, followed by extras, followed by either delivery or gallery. Also now that I look deeper there is no phone number. That's purely a business decision there, but I would argue that the price of a boat justifies contact outside of strictly email and customers may like to talk to a person about the boat rather than just reading about it.
