Viewing without horizontal adjustment

Hi, I am doing some very extensive Find/Change queries with ID 5 on Windows 7, with the view set to show me the page width (400% in this case).

Now I find it annoying that the view keeps  "adjusting" horizontally wherever the found character is. If, for example, the character found is at the beginning of a line, the view moves so that horizontally, this particular character is in the middle of the screen, causing me to face the left half of the blank screen, and I manually have to scroll the screen view back to normal in order to see the rest of the line on the right side.

How can I prevent ID from changing the view?

I've also always found InDesign's zoom behaviour to be really

irritating. I've filed bug reports years ago to no avail.

I think your options are rather limited. You can reduce the page zoom percentage. You can increase the display resolution of the monitor (the type will get smaller). You can buy a larger monitor.
