Why is Photoshop CS5 crashing every time I try to print?

Dec 25, 2012 6:16 PM

The title says it all. Everything is normal until I press Print in the Print Window. Then it crashes. Every time. Help!

Could you share what your operating system and printer information is?

Alec beat me to it, but I wonder...  Since you gave essentially no useful information about your setup, were you hoping to learn about a generic [Don't crash when I try to print] button?

Seriously, in addition to what Alec has asked for, perhaps you could be so kind as to describe what "it crashes" means in more detail.

    Thanks.

What does the crash report say?

No, I asked for the crash report.   Without the details of the crash, we don't know why you're crashing.  We need those details to start figuring out why you are crashing.

OK, you're crashing in MacOS print code.  That could be a bug in the printer driver, or the OS code.

In this case, I think it's an OS issue with the previously saved print settings. (we've seen this happen from time to time after OS updates and some driver updates)

Resetting Photoshop's preferences should clear the previous print settings, and let you print again.

Sorry, I missed your earlier reply.

First, go install all the Photoshop updates.  You're still on 12.0.0.

But the crash is in the OS code, and could be due to a driver bug or an OS bug.
