I have read several discussion threads but I don't seem to have the exact same problem as others.
I upgraded to Bridge CS6. My photos still have keywords attached. I see my list of keywords. If I click
on an image that has been tagged earlier, the keywords are intact.
But I cannot use the Find tool to locate by keyword.
People have helped others by suggesting exporting your old keyword list and importing it into
the new version of Bridge. But I can see my keyword list right there so it doesn't seem that I need
to do that.
Can anyone help?
I'm on a Mac, FWIW.
Thanks,
Jane
Hi Curt,
No, keywords are not in italic.
And when you say open each folder, do you mean the folders the keywords are in or
folders my photos are in?
If you mean open folders in Bridge, when you double click on the keyword
folders, they just expand or contract. They don't open.
If you could clarify, that would be great.
But I cannot use the Find tool to locate by keyword.
Yes you can. Either hit cmd + F or use menu 'edit' and choose 'Find'
This provides a window with several options. First choose your parent folder that includes all the folders with images you want to search for. Then choose the option to search for keyword and at the bottom is a filed with option to set INclude Non indexed files and include subfolders.
The first search might take a bit more time if your folders have not been indexed before. When finished the second time should be faster.
And if your keyword list shows in Italic like Curt stated be sure to export the old list and import it in the new Bridge. Usually a default upgrade should take care of this I believe.
Thanks Omke but that's what I'm already doing. I'm not sure how else one would use "Find" without
opening the Find window and selecting the options you mentioned. I look for a keyword in "Pictures"
with "keywords" selected as an option.
All my keywords, as I said, are showing up fine in CS6, and they are not italic.
I can just use CS3. It would be nice to figure this out however.
Hi Curt,
I've been browsing all my folders and seeing my thumbnails and never had to
experience the spinning arrow.
What did just work is to selecte "include all subfolders" when I used Find and had
the main Pictures folder selected. I never had to check this before in CS3 that I new of
or maybe it was checked and I never knew it.
I did not have to include non-indexed folders.
If you do not see the spinning arrow then the folder is indexed.
If you do a search remember that the search starts where you direct and then moves DOWN the file hierocracy from there.
Do not believe there were any changes in the Find (search) function from CS3.
So is everything working now?
