Elements 11 Organizer quits unexpectedly

Jan 28, 2013 11:24 AM

I have just installed PSE 11 in my Mac Book Pro running on OS 10.8.2 Mountain Lion. When trying to open Organiser It quits unexpectedly.  Any ideas why?

Can you launch directly from the Organizer application, bypassing the welcome screen?

Is the Editor working OK? You could try running from an administrators account or a user account with full read & write privileges.

Take a look at this. It's not PSE specific but covers Adobe applications - see if it helps:

Did you upgrade to 10.8 with PSE already installed?

Is it only organizer that quits? Editor works okay?

Please try creating a new user account and then launching Organizer. To create a new user go to system Preferences >>Users & Groups, click the lock so you can make changes, then click the plus button at the bottom left of the window and create a new account. For the type of account choose Administrator, then log out of your current account and log in as the new user and see if PSE works any better.

    Thanks

How about Organizer? Is it working fine too?

I'm not sure of what causes the issue but the error message you were getting, pointed to permissions not being available to current user. I think now if you try using the older user account, you should see Editor working fine. Please let me know if that's not the case.

    Thanks

In the old user account, please try resetting preferences. Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:

    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist

    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 paths

    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 settings

and any lockfiles with the same names.

That library is hidden in 10.8. To see it, in the finder click the Go menu and hold down the option key. It will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there go to the Saved Application States folder and delete everything for PSE.

    Thanks

Please try repairing disk permissions on your MAC and then see if this makes any difference.

If not, the next step would be - creating a new user account on your system with Admin privileges and then try running Organizer, from this account.

    Thanks
