I bought CS5 back in 2010 and inDesign never worked. It always crashed before the program even fully opened. Since, at the time, I didn't need inDesign, I didn't worry about it. Now I need inDesign and it's a HUGE problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled CS5 on my computer (which now means I am only running a trial version, since it won't let me use the serial number again- that's another problem!) and and STILL having the same problem Is my version just defective? Please help!!
You are not offering any system information nor actually telling us any other details like what suite the program is part of. Therefore we can't even begin to advise. If the rest of the programs work, it's almost impossible that the program itself is damaged. This is really some specific problem on your computer.
Mylenium
Thanks Mylenium, for trying to answer my question -- sorry that my question
wasn't detailed enough. My operating system is Mac OS X 10.7.5 the inDesign
that has never been able to open is part of a CS5 Design Premium package
that I bought in 2010 (the student licensing version). Photoshop,
illustrator, acrobat, bridge, etc. all work just fine.
If this helps (though it 's super long) here's the problem details of the
crash report (I am not including the binary images, or it would be 5 pages
long):

Hi Jeff -- I didn't even get that far, all that happens is the inDesign
icon keeps bouncing as it load and then all of a sudden the error message
pops up saying "inDesign quit unexpectedly" I haven't put in my licensing
information yet... would that be the problem? Should I reinstall and try to
put in the information?
Thank you!
Did you enter your serial number for the suite during the install?
I think I would suggest you uninstall again, then run the clean tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstall.
If you continue to get an unexpected quit after that, please post the crash report on pastebin.com, not here, and put a link to it here.
Hi Peter - Thanks for all your help and advice! I didn't enter the serial
number because I wasn't able to get it since I adobe has already registered
it once. I have since gotten it, though, after contacting Adobe. I will try
to uninstall and reinstall again and run the clean tool. Fingers crossed it
works!
