Premiere Elements 8 won't launch anymore

I have read a lot about this issue but I still can't launch Premiere Elements 8.  I have used it many times successfully, but had some trouble with my computer recently and now PRE8 won't launch.  Here is the system information.  I think it is adequate.

I believe I loaded the most recent driver.

 

I had problems with my catalyst control center and reloaded it.

 

Unfortunately I see there is an update 8.0.1 for PRE8

I downloaded this, but I am unable to open and install it on my machine.  I'm not sure why not, because i was able to install the catalyst control center and windows updates.

 

I have tried numerous suggestions that I have seen in the forums with no luck.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    If it used to work and now doesn't, the first question to ask yourself is, What has changed?

     

    You have plenty of disc space, which I assume you keep clean. You don't mention other software you have installed on your computer, but that is also something to consider.

     

    Meantime, do consider the fact that version 8 was one of Adobe's clunkiest models. (In fact, the update they released a month after its release was to catch a bunch of bugs they didn't fix before they released it.) An upgrade to version 9 or, better, version 11 will likely resolve most of your problems.

     

    But if you're intent on using version 8, you'll need to figure out what loaded onto your computer in between when it did work and when it stopped.
