Thanks, Barbara. I didn't express my issue very well. PSE 11 is my extenal editor for Aperture, and that part works very well. My issue is that when I go to "File>Save As" in PSE, the photo gets saved in a mysterious place instead of in Aperture. I can work around this issue by saving the photo to my desktop, but that's cumbersome, and I'd like not to have to do that. Any suggestions? BTW, Happy New Year.
Under Edit->Preferences: Saving Files check the checkbox for "Save in original folder" and your images would be saved from where it is imported. Offcourse it would save in folder from your it is located in hard drive.

Thanks for your help, Garry. While your offering was appreciated, I still can't seem to relocate photos into Aperture after editing them in PSE 11.
I think I've essentially followed all of your advice, but I wind up with save location choices that don't seem to make sense. I'll keep trying. Again, thanks for your response.
When you do a Save As, you're creating a new file. You should choose a destination that you like, then import the file to aperture as a new image. If you want to save over the original file so that aperture understands your edits as pertaining to the original, you need to be sure that the PSE editor>preferences>Saving Files>On first save is set to save over the original file.
