I keep getting "the user does not have sufficient privileges to install adobe flas player"

Jan 1, 2013 12:02 PM

When I try to install Flash Player 11 I get a messege that says "the user does not have sufficient privileges to install adobe flash player", I have tried on both my user account and my husbands, we both have administrator accounts. My user account shows flash player 11 as being installed and functioning, my husbands does not. we are running Windows XP and using internet explorer, it is an older version, 8, i believe. Can anyone please help?

Download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-pla yer-windows.html#main-pars_header and save it to disk, then right-click on the downloaded installer and select 'Run as Administrator'.

If you still get that error, can you post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

This looks like a very old install log; the date says 14/02/2010, which means that the installer did not run at all.  Are you sure you account has administrative privileges?

And you did 'Run as Administrator?

Can you try a clean install as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
