Is it possible to do animations in FW CS5? If so, can anyone direct me to a resouce to demonstrate how to do animations? I tried using the Fireworks help resource but  the instructions refers to menus and controls that I don't seem to exist in my version.

I just did a Google search for "animations Fireworks CS5" and these were among the top search results:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6w-I8SlBFY

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcz_VFm8P94

The first video starts by creating an Animation Symbol, while the second begins by creating a Graphic Symbol and then uses the Tween Instances command to create the animation. So there's two different approaches here, and these might get you started.

Most animations involve the use of States. Using the States panel, you can create new states or duplicated existing states, move objects around on the canvas, transform them, and generate your own animations by hand. So that's another basic way to approach it (without the use of symbols or other specific commands).
