Open file search?

Hi all,

 

Im puzzled, if I do I search in a Mountain Lion finder window I get results like so:

However, doing the same search via InDesigns FILE - OPEN pane, results in nothing?

Am I missing something or is it a bug?

    The only thing you'll find in the file open window would be INDD INDT IDML and IDDB files.

    mmm....but I have loads of ID files with "OP_" in, how come they didn't get found?

    Well I tend to search in a folder full of project folders that contain the InDesign files. I guess you're suggesting that the InDesign search doesnt search within folders?....if so it seems a bit daft that.

    That's more an O/S thing than an InDesign thing, I think. Open/Save

    dialogs in OSX are featureless.

     

    If you want to search for ID files withing multiple folders I suggest

    using Bridge.

    I'm having the same problem. I don't think it's an OS thing, since in the Finder I can find the docs I need and open them from there. In the open file dialogue however, Indesign CS6 comes with 0 results even when I search my whole disk. I already renewed preferences. Would love to find a solution...

    Yep I starting to think it's a bug.

     

    This is InDesign CS5 search:

    Bridge is an option but I find it a pain to use.

    I'd be interested to hear why think Bridge is a pain to use. I rely on it as one of the essential tools in my workflow.

    Just never used it for general file browsing, kept it all Finder based. Generally because my Mac doesnt have enough juice to run ID, PS, ILL and Bridge so opening and closing apps constantly became a pain.

     

    PS. Plus it takes up a fair bit of screen real estate...I know you can use Mini version but that makes you click forward and backwards alot.

    Why use bridge (which is slow to start up and clutters screen more) when Finder has all it takes? (And ID CS6, when it works as it should)

     

    Where can we notice the adobe-people to add this to the bug list? Or is there anyone to give a solution?
