Invalid serial number for Elements 8

I am trying to avtivate/register my Elements 8 but keep on telling me that the serial number is invalid. When I open the program I found the serial number under Help/ product registration, but as mentioned when I try to register this number it says it invalid. I tried the live chat but the person there cannot help me for some reason. All I want to know is where on the product do I find the correct serial number. I dont have the box or papers anymore. The program worked for many years, but now whan to use it on another PC.

    Click on the red Adobe logo at the top of this page and log in to My Adobe. Then navigate to find your product if you originally registered.

     

    On the Old PC launch the Editor first and click Help >> Deactivate

    Wow, the help desk person now tells me that "It is an old product and Adobe only provide the latest product to download"???

    Thanks, but I never registered the product when I got it. I am trying to do so now, but the "serial number is invalid"

    You will need the original CD disk.

    It came pre installed with the PC. Quote on the recept " Full version of ADOBE Photoshop Elemets" so no disk unfortunately. It gives me the serial number of the product but it says its invalid.

    Sorry, but you may need to buy PSE11. It will be a good investment on a new computer and there have been quite a few new tools and improvements since PSE8.

     

    In fact Adobe often includes bundled versions with hardware in the hope that users will become future customers.

    OK thanks but I just bought Lightroom 4 a few weeks back and dont want to realy spend more money on something that I wont be using often. The old one worked fine for me but just want it on the new PC. I just dont understand why the serial number that is on the product is now invalid?

    BTW. I did register throuht the rgistration tab on the program a few days ago and on completion it did say that the registration details will be send to Abobe but it does not show up in my account. That is why I wanted to register it via their website and my account but it keeps saying invalid serial number when I type it in.
